Commercial Lead – New Business Development & Deals

Position Description:

The role is responsible for keeping the opportunity funnel of Mergers Acquisitions and Divestments (MA&D), New Market/Business entry, and Renewables deals for ARADEL, and sub-entities evergreen in line with ARADEL’s Strategy to support a balanced portfolio of investments.

Provides day-to-day coordination of deals and negotiations resulting in the execution of specific Agreements required for new business ventures, in line with mandates.

Major Areas of Responsibility in MA&D, New Market/Business and Renewables:

  • Adhere to the highest HSE practices in own activities.
  • Focal Point for data gathering and analysis input contribution required in the annual corporate planning process by supplying landscape input for the relevant ARADEL businesses following the approved planning cycle and, requirements.
  • Focal Point to collate and provide analysis plus insights from assigned opportunities for strategy advice to the Executive team and the Board of Directors, including analytics as required.
  • Contribute to the inorganic growth ambition of the ARADEL Group through opportunity identification and screening while delivering insights to support organic growth.
  • Custodian of the opportunity funnel of deals for ARADEL and sub-entities ensuring it is up to date.
  • Support liaison between ARADEL and specifically assigned counterparties pre-completion of such deals.
  • Responsible for the maturation of assigned entry opportunities from identification to implementation, onboarding multidisciplinary deal teams, and ensuring compliance with defined commercial structure (s) and delegated mandates.
  • Provide relevant data and input required to run the comprehensive economic analysis of business opportunities.
  • Contribute to the Agreements Review and Assurance process to ensure 1). Agreements are well structured to enable seamless implementation, 2). value targets can be met, and 3). risks are mitigated adequately, with liabilities within acceptable limits.
  • Provided by exception, day-to-day support for the operationalization of assigned completed Deals including confirmation that condition precedents are fulfilled.
  • Contributes to updating the Corporate Agreement Obligations repository with all key obligations and rights from all completed deals and actioning all delegated actions in a timely fashion.
  • Contributes to the identification of risks including the implementation, and monitoring of suitable mitigations to keep residual exposure within acceptable levels.
  • Work with other team members of the New Business Development and Negotiations Team and formulated cross-functional teams to mature assigned opportunities.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership for specific cross-functional deal teams assigned to mature MA&D, New Market/Business, and Renewables entry opportunities.
  • Provide leadership for specific Commercial agreements negotiations team assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7 years or more professional experience with a mid-sized or major Exploration and Production, Energy, or Renewables operation with at least five (5) years in a senior technical or business development role
  • First Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a Commercial / Business-related discipline. An MBA will be an added advantage.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exposure to Project Management or Investment Decision Making
  • Good exposure to Contracts and Agreement structuring
  • Good experience in multi-dimensional negotiations with a good spread across the spectrum of Agreements in the Upstream, Energy, and Renewables value chain
  • Good communication skills with the ability to represent the Company with Counterparties
  • Some experience in coordinating small multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in working virtually.
